Assignment 1: Reasons for Writing

Elie Wiesel: Holocaust Survivor

Elie Wiesel wrote this book to “prevent the enemy from enjoying one last victory by allowing his crimes to be erased from human memory.” Another reason he wrote this book was to inform readers on what it was like to live in a concentration camp. Due to the fact that there were so few survivors of the holocaust, Wiesel felt obligated to write about his personal experiences. Another reason why Wiesel wrote this story was to make sure nobody forgot what happened during the Holocaust. Although the Holocaust was a true event, many people don’t believe that it happened which is another reason why Wiesel wrote this book, to inform others on what happened.

Piercing Voice

Piercing Voice
Loud and shrill
Screaming, weeping, and agonizing
Like the how of a wolf and as disturbing as a ghost
A whistle in the wind
Blowing
In a cloud of dust
